I was born and raised in the bustling city of Detroit, Michigan. As a child I demonstrated an impressive ability of working with my hands. I was fascinated with making models and carving and was a talented artist as well. I was also quite a hard working child who appreciated the value of a dollar. I even had a paper route and saved religiously for months to buy myself a set of drums and lessons. Quite an impressive feat for an 11 year old.
When I got to high school I discovered a love and insatiable interest for biology. Perhaps influenced by my father who was a chemist, I knew I wanted to make a career in the field. I hadn’t forgotten about my passion for the arts and wanted to include those skills along with my newfound interest in science. I put the two together and came up with dentistry.
I wasted no time. Upon completing high school I was off to the prestigious University of Detroit to major in biology and then continued there for Dental school. I supported myself by playing the drums at weddings and musicals in the Detroit area. Upon graduation, I entered into an associateship for 6 months until I could afford to open my own practice. These were really hard times but my perseverant attitude allowed me to prevail. I was able to start my own practice in 1984 and in 1999 moved it to the present location. |
